Go Get the Clothes out of the Dryer

Well my mother was surprised to see me.
"You're here?!"
No hugs or anything. I went into the bedroom to see my father. He was lying in the bed. The bedroom was surrounded by clothing piled up everywhere. Piles of papers massed upon their bureau and also around the room. The air was dust laden, mixed with a strange scent. An electric air refreshener ejected this scent into the air every few minutes.
"Hey dad!" I said.
He looked over, barely acknowledging me. "Go get the clothes out of the dryer," he said, then went back to looking at the television. That was the extent of his recognition.
